Today we are going to delve into some of the mysteries of Eldan technology--more specifically, the types of Eldan constructs that players will encounter as they explore planet Nexus. Ready? Here we go!
Probes are the most versatile of all Eldan constructs. Outfitted with a vast array of surveillance and analysis equipment, Probes are often deployed to gather intelligence and field data when a threat is recognized. Engineered for speed and maneuverability, Eldan Probes propel themselves through the air utilizing a compact anti-gravity drive, allowing it to execute precise movement on any directional axis.
The Probe's armored carapace houses a hyper-advanced optical mechanism that allows it to resolve images at the molecular level, with numerous filters designed to comprehensively analyze the physical properties of its target. Along with these impressive surveillance capabilities, Probes are also outfitted with energy weapons and a precision optic targeting system--providing the Probe with the ability to adequately defend itself while collecting data.
SECRET SCIENTIFIC ARCHIVES: When deployed, Probes automatically create a virtual neural network with other Probes in their vicinity, greatly expanding their surveillance and analysis capabilities.
Protectors are large humanoid Eldan constructs that have been encountered at a number of different archaeological sites on Nexus. Intimidating in their size and strength, these powerful machines are most usually deployed as security measures by long-dormant Eldan scientific facilities, displaying a single-minded focus on protecting the valuable scientific data and equipment found within them.
Although specific records concerning their construction have been difficult to find, Protectors have obviously been engineered with combat in mind. Their bodies display the simple elegancy of Eldan technological design, armored in a blast-proof metal alloy that allows the construct to withstand considerable amounts of damage when engaged in hostilities. Weapons systems are equally impressive. The reinforced humanoid combat chassis is capable of powerful melee attacks, and its torso houses multiple weapon modifications--including an embedded array of highly-destructive plasmic projectiles.
SECRET SCIENTIFIC ARCHIVES: Like many Eldan creations, the Protector displays advanced intelligence, utilizing a quantum neural matrix that allows it to simulate billions of combat scenarios per millisecond. Protectors also receive instantaneous field data from any Eldan Probes in the immediate vicinity, allowing them to formulate multi-layered strategy while in the midst of conflict.
Augmentors are perhaps the most mysterious of all the Eldan constructs encountered so far on Nexus. From limited data gathered by scientists who have observed them, it seems that these rarely-seen constructs are directly involved in the Eldan technological process known as augmentation.
Although very is little is currently known about the specifics of augmentation, it is believed it to be a nano-technological process that results in a dynamic cybernetic transformation of the host. Unconfirmed theories posit that Augmentors inject their victims with a substance which carries the nanites responsible for facilitating the technological enhancements, following a complex set of selection protocols which determine exactly what kind of augmentation the host will receive.
Augmentors are by far the most advanced of all the Eldan constructs--and therefore the most valuable. It has been noted on many occasions that both Probes and Protectors alter their behaviors drastically if Augmentors are deployed, ensuring their safety no matter what the cost.
SECRET SCIENTIFIC ARCHIVES: The cybernetic monstrosity known as Metal Maw was created using augmentation. The creature serves as a frightening example of the power of the mysterious technology on planet Nexus.
